RickM1973 0 #1 Posted 9 hours ago Good morning, I have a 1999 Toro/Wheelhorse 523Dxi with the Daihatsu Diesel engine. The tractor itself is in great shape but starting to show its age. This past spring I was looking for a 52" mower deck for it to no avail. Now I wanted to relagate the tractor to winter use with the snowthrower I have for it. The upper radiator hose is beginning to swell and crack. I have tried multiple sources to find the hose and keep getting the response that it is discontinued and no longer available. I have gone through Advance auto and O'reilly auto parts and can't even get close. I wanted to see if there happened to be anyone out there that might have the parts. Upper hose Part # 95-4266 Lower Hose Part # 95-4267 The upper hose is the critical one I really need. Regards
ri702bill 13,218 #2 Posted 8 hours ago Welcome! Do you have an Automotive Jobber near you that has mostly Commercial Accounts - garages , fleet truck service, etc? Like NAPA. Ask if they can do a matchup to your hose in question. Years ago, I needed a specific hose for an engine swap in an old car - the ID on one end was different than the other. The sales person told me that it looked like what I needed was a section of an early Monte Carlo upper hose - that hose was about 2-1/2 feet long with molded bends. Sure enough, the perfect fit that I needed was just a portion of it. Try to ask a more senior person there, not the youngster (though the kid may surprize you). My . Or check with some of the Forum Vendors - and place an ad in the Classified Wanted section with the above info...
oliver2-44 11,785 #3 Posted 7 hours ago There are some generic radiator hoses that have accordion like fold on the outside to bend them to custom shapes. Could you use one of them.
Handy Don 17,581 #4 Posted 7 hours ago Likely the hose’s dimensions are metric--a bit of extra challenge for you. 🙃

Could you use one of them. I for one try to avoid them unless there is no other choice. They are manufactured straight abd tend to stay that way, resisting taking a permanent bent shape. That puts pressure sideways on the radiator fitting.... I purchased a small 1970's Chevy that the PO had used one of those as the upper hose. It stressed the brass neck on the radiator and cracked it where it was soldered to the tank. Took it to the local (now long gone) Radiator repair shop where for $40 he unsoldered the tank, rodded the radiator, reinforced the neck joint with a disc of brass , resoldered it all back & pressure tested it. No more issues.

Excellent point generally--pay attention to what the part wants to do! I suppose creating a brace of some sort to hold the hose in the wanted shape might help, but likely would add other complications. 😢
OoPEZoO 619 #7 Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Have you tried to cross reference the hose over to the New Holland version of the 5xi? I believe it would have been labeled a New Holland GT23D. Sometimes you can get lucky and find that they still have a few dusty boxes of parts floating around their warehouses. EDIT: Nevermind, I just went down that rabbit hole for you and you won't find anything. Looks like that Daihatsu assembly was used on quite a few pieces of equipment, but I also keep striking out trying to find an exact replacement. In the past, I have also had good luck with NAPA when I needed something weird. The hangup being that you really need to take the part in with you to compare. I imagine that you could find something that could work. Places like Summit racing sell generic radiator hoses by the foot, just need to know your inlet and outlet diameters. Best of luck. I hope you can find something. Edited 1 hour ago by OoPEZoO
