wallfish 20,689 #2 Posted 17 hours ago I'll sell you my RJ-58 for $2499 with an original gas tank! That's ridiculous expecting that kind of money but at least they didn't cut the hood

wallfish 20,689 #4 Posted 16 hours ago Obviously the tank isn;t original and the engine specs would show if it's an original engine. With the deck that's about a $600 to $900 tractor IMO depending on location and demand. But I haven't been buying tractors for a while. Definitely not $2500 With the solid seat it's most likely a 1959

Definitely not $2500 With the solid seat it's most likely a 1959 Agreed - but the big money lies in both the engine & transmission - IF they truly in good shape. That showerhead style muffler is NLA and correct for that era - worth $$$ ONLY if it is intact and not rotted / burnt out.
rmaynard 17,613 #6 Posted 5 hours ago (edited) An RJ-35 sold on eBay in August for $5850. There is a thread on here about it. Edited 5 hours ago by rmaynard
953 nut 69,839 #7 Posted 5 hours ago I know you are just fishing around as usual but that is fine, you are gaining knowledge along the way. Like @ri702bill said the showerhead muffler is hard to find and tends to go for $ 300 or more in good used condition. To make this one original you would need to find a RJ gas tank, air cleaner and rear hitch and the engine would have to be a Kohler K-90. The one @rmaynard is mentioning was not a '58 or '59. It was one of the very first produced by in 1955, very hard to find. 2

IDK if they went with non solid mid 60's or in 61. It appears to be 1960 400 to me, (Looks to have raised portions on grill and not smooth) but hard to tell in pics. Looks like belt gaurd is missing also and Im not sure if thats a Kohler but again hard to tell in pics. just my .
cafoose 3,882 #9 Posted 5 hours ago Doesn't have the rounded lift detents under the hood and has the straight front axle. Definitely an RJ, not a Suburban.

Any document numbers on how many were made in 55?
