bo dawg 641 #1 Posted 14 hours ago The 418 just quit running, thought the carb was dirty so I cleaned it, before I cleaned it I did check to see if it was getting gas when pulled gas line, turned engine over for a second and gas shot out so I was for sure it was carb. After reinstalling carb it still doesnt run. Fill gas line with gas and hooked up to carb and runs just for a few seconds till line empties out. So pulled gas line off carb, turned over engine and again gas squirted out but when I kept turning engine over to see if it would keep squirting out there was no more gas. So must be fuel pump. The line to the pump and line filter is full of gas. So where is the best place you guys been buying replacement pumps??
ebinmaine 80,935 #2 Posted 14 hours ago Go electric. I personally use and recommend Facet brand pumps. There are less expensive models of other brands.

Ed Kennell 47,597 #5 Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Here's one of many threads on e-pumps. 520H Electric fuel pump locations. - Wheel Horse Electrical - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum I have had good service with the Carbole pumps. Do not let the pumps run dry. I like to wire mine to the hot side of the light switch. Edited 9 hours ago by Ed Kennell
kpinnc 19,008 #6 Posted 7 hours ago (edited) I've added these on 4 tractors and they work very well. One Facet and 3 Carboyle. Just keep the psi very low (5 psi or less, lower is better) and they work great. I prefer to keep them closer to the carb myself but these tractors aren't big enough to mount outside the limit for the pump. Pretty much wherever you want is fine. Pick up a few 3/8 brass fittings and you have plenty of options. Just be sure to install the included filter to preserve the pump itself. wallfish 20,665 #7 Posted 6 hours ago You can easily verify if the problem is fuel related by squirting some fuel into the carb and trying to start it. If it starts, continue with diagnostics on the fuel system. If it doesn't start, take a look for ignition and spark issues.
Easton Rich 1,271 #8 Posted 6 hours ago Sometimes the needles on the float get stuck which would explain it running off the bowl then dying. Drop the bowl off and move your float up and down to make sure the needle is moving. If that's tests out fine put on an electric pump like the others have mentioned.
953 nut 69,812 #9 Posted 5 hours ago Best place to connect the electric supply is at the volt / hour meter feed. It is fused and turns off when the ignition is turned off.
