418 gas problem

Recommended Posts

bo dawg

The 418 just quit running, thought the carb was dirty so I cleaned it, before I cleaned it I did check to see if it was getting gas when pulled gas line, turned engine over for a second and gas shot out so I was for sure it was carb. After reinstalling carb it still doesnt run. Fill gas line with gas and hooked up to carb and runs just for a few seconds till line empties out. So pulled gas line off carb, turned over engine and again gas squirted out but when I kept turning engine over to see if it would keep squirting out there was no more gas. So must be fuel pump. The line to the pump and line filter is full of gas.

So where is the best place you guys been buying replacement pumps??

Go electric.

I personally use and recommend Facet brand pumps. There are less expensive models of other brands.

Here's one of many threads on e-pumps.

I have had good service with the Carbole pumps.

Do not let the pumps run dry.

I like to wire mine to the hot side of the light switch.
