October 23, 1976, Chicago's first number one release was the single “If you leave me now” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained there for two weeks. The song was written and sung by bass player Peter Cetera and was featured on the album ChicagoX$.

With all of the instruments, I wonder if they used local artists or if the whole ensemble traveled the tour circuit together?

The whole group traveled together. They were too good to even consider taking a chance on a fill in. I was lucky enough to see them in person once and the sound of the instrumentalists was outstanding.

Always loved a band with a "HORN" section!
