WHGuy413 2,859 #1 Posted yesterday at 06:35 PM (edited) Hey all, long time no see. I’ve been here just lurking in the shadows. I’m sorry if this is a repeat post but I’m Looking for some help. My son @WheelHorse_Kid bought a 42” sickle bar a few weeks ago. Seems to be in good shape and looks like it’s all there but I could be wrong since I’ve never owned one. He is trying to mount it on his Commando 8 and Right now the wobble box is sitting on the ground with nothing there to hold it up off the ground. I’ve searched here but naturally any time I type what I’m looking for I get thousands of hits that have the word sickle bar in the post. Unfortunately I can’t post pics because my account has been down graded and my debit card was hacked last night so I’m locked out of that. Can anyone help me out with some pics or what we are doing wrong? Thanks from both of us. Edited yesterday at 06:44 PM by WHGuy413
Thegearhead0324 1,849 #2 Posted 22 hours ago Good afternoon. All WH sickle bars are basically the same design, except with the mounting as there are different models for different tractors. I’ve made quite a few posts about my sickle bar in the past and the one I recently got at the big show this past year. There are also a few members on here who are sickle bar pros and can tell you what models fit which tractors. Anyways, here are a couple pictures of what it should basically look like. 2
WHGuy413 2,859 #3 Posted 21 hours ago Thank you @Thegearhead0324 it looks like his. Your picture of the front mount if you zoom in what is the threaded rod or bolt that’s there? We don’t have anything like that.

Thegearhead0324 1,849 #5 Posted 10 hours ago @WHGuy413 , that is the tension adjusting bolt and nut for the belt, as that bolt is tightened, the assembly is moved causing tension on the belt.
peter lena 10,077 #6 Posted 6 hours ago @Thegearhead0324 very good looking set up ! would love to go thru a build / set up on one of those , detail functioning is a home base for me , every HAND OFF STAGE , is vital for smooth / easy running . those related , belt pulley bearings , can be easily enhanced for function / life . more moving parts , lots to tweak , pete
Thegearhead0324 1,849 #7 Posted 4 hours ago @peter lena Thank you, the very last pic is of my old sickle mower that I painted. The current setup I took all apart and wiped down with my “patina” stuff, and thoroughly greased and lubed. Keeping this one original right down to the belt. My 953 sickle doesn't have that. It's difficult to adjust that belt tension as it is. Would be very helpful to implement that on it
