Achto 32,789 #3 Posted Tuesday at 10:08 AM (edited) With the implements, the price is not too far off if it actually runs. The only quick visual way that I can tell the difference between a 953 and a 1054 is by the drag link for the steering. 953 1054 Edited Tuesday at 10:43 AM by Achto 5
SylvanLakeWH 32,589 #4 Posted Tuesday at 11:24 AM I would think the grader blade alone worth the price of admission...
953 nut 69,452 #5 Posted Tuesday at 11:47 AM I knew that sooner or later you would find a Wheel Horse project worth bringing home.. 1 hour ago, Achto said: The only quick visual way that I can tell the difference between a 953 and a 1054 is by the drag link for the steering. Also the engine spec # will tell the truth, 953 would be 46-135A and 1054 would be 46-215A. The 1054 had a higher compression head. 3

rjg854 13,371 #7 Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM I believe those attachments are tractor specific. The grader blade may be different. @953 nut would know for sure. 1
c-series don 12,477 #8 Posted yesterday at 12:09 AM I believe the grader blade will fit your 856, the tractor in the pictures has no mid mount Tach-A-Matic to hook the blade to. As others have mentioned, the blade alone is worth the $250 he’s asking for everything. 2

I doubt that the grader blade would work on the 856 though it may, I've never seen a grader blade mounted to a 953/1054. Your 856 is a short frame and the 953/1054 are longer than a long frame, just have to do some measuring. The mower is a 48" and would be too much for an 8 hp engine and is too big to fit under the 856. I messaged the seller yesterday and he got back to me today.. this is what he said: attached screenshot.. sounds as if he didn’t take the time to set up up permantly to gravity fed run drive ect? Or this tractor has fuel tank under the seat so CANT gravity feed permanently.. I do have an aviation electric fuel pump I bought for my 856.. took it off and used a piece of rubber to elevate the fuel tank to gravity feed it.. I could use the aviation fuel pump on this 953/1054 if I get it? Edited yesterday at 05:11 PM by FLtractor
953 nut 69,452 #13 Posted 20 hours ago Do you know that the tank is leaking? Could be your tank can stay where it is, you will want to get or make a new cork gasket for the gas tank sediment bowl and replace the gas line anyway. The gas tank is under the seat but all you need to do is remove the transaxle to get it out.

Did ask for pictures under the hood to see how it all looks before making the 70 mile one way trip. Looking up the 954/1054 ealrier online to learn about it.. I did come across this fuel line online for $20.00 for sale. Never knew the wheelhorses used metal fuel lines. Does this one go from the gas tank to the orignal carb? How did the metal fuel lines compare to all new rubber fuel lines? Edited 18 hours ago by FLtractor
FLtractor 232 #15 Posted 17 hours ago (edited) For the 953/1054.. of levers between legs… one is for Transmission shift.. one is for hydraulic lift? The lever on the left side of tractor in picture is for raising deck height? And the circular tank in picture is gas tank or hydraulic fluid? Also is the carburetor located on the front of the engine same as is my 856 K181? Edited 15 hours ago by FLtractor
953 nut 69,452 #16 Posted 7 hours ago The metal line goes from the fuel pump to the carburetor, chances are you don't need one. The hose from the tank to the pump is a 1/4" rubber fuel hose. The levers from left to right are, Parking brake lock, shift lever and hydraulic lift handle (up/down). The round tank is part of the hydraulic lift. The carburetor on the 854 is smaller that the 953/1054.

Thank you for clearing up my questions… When you say chances are you don’t need it- do you mean a fuel pump? Or metal fuel line? Could I NOT use a fuel pump at all- Install a inline primer ball- keep the under seat gas tank 1/2 full to help with suction - or no that won’t work because won’t have enough permanent suction from fuel tank to carb to run and drive?
