953 nut 69,302 #4 Posted 7 hours ago We only watch the holiday editions now. A lot of the "topical" humor was directed at obscure current events that we never heard of.
ri702bill 13,063 #5 Posted 5 hours ago The early cast had a vibrant banter between them. They too focused on the weeks Political Events that they deem "noteworthy" Now, 11:30 is waaaay past my bedtime!
953 nut 69,302 #6 Posted 3 hours ago The evening news is about bedtime for me, unless there is a NASCAR race on at night Then I may stay for the first stage and record the rest and watch it in the morning.

Bumping & banging, the race is truly won in the Pits. Sadly, I believe the Glory Days of NASCAR are behind us. Times are a-changin'. 953 nut 69,302 #8 Posted 2 hours ago I remember an interview done with Cale Yarborough about many of the new drivers coming into NASCAR.. He said the most of them were too skinny and lightweight to ever drive the cars he was driving a half century ago. No power steering, cool suits, head restraint systems, just jump in, hang on and turn left. Lots of the drivers would show up at the local short track on Saturday night after practice and borrow a late model from one of the local drivers and enter the race just for fun. They would intentionally drop out of the race with a few laps to go so they wouldn't screw-up the points system for the locals. Had one local race where Harry Gant was sitting next to me in the grandstands. He would comment on the driving styles of some of the racers and tell why the fastest car wasn't going to win, sure enough he was right. Last weekend they were showing the drivers leaving the driver's meeting. There were fans on both sides of the walkway wanting autographs or a simple fist bump, Kyle Larson was on one side signing everything in sight,, Ryan Blaney was on the other soide3 doing the same and here came Hamlin totally ignoring everyone, guess his s**t don't stink.
ri702bill 13,063 #9 Posted 1 hour ago In 2001 the fall New Hampshire race was postponed untin Thanksgiving weeked due to 9-11. The next race was the following week in Dover Delaware - and I was there. My wife saw me on TV carrying 2 beers back to my seat! "Yup, there he is, that's my Hubby"! It was eerie having Attack Helicopters circling above all day, as the AFB was close nearby and this was the largest outdoor gathering since the attacks....
