That there is a two-fer. ID'd the belt rub and the bad bearing. Win-win. 2
Bar Nuthin 3,356 #28 Posted October 12 Getting the belt guard aligned is a tricky proposition. There's very little clearance overall so a gain at one spot creates a tight spot somewhere else. Ended up bolting down the guard and running the engine, then tapping around with small rubber mallet until I found the sweet spot where the noises disappeared. Sometimes you just gotta go with what works. 2
Bar Nuthin 3,356 #29 Posted October 15 Update - so the belt guard gradually went back to its rubbing and belt slapping. The only way I could get the proper clearance was to remove the front bracket bolt. Seems great now, except the front bracket is about an 1/4" above the hole it bolts into. I tried bending it but that wasn't working out. The only solution I can think of is to separate the spot welds and relocate the bracket. Anyone here ever experienced this anomoly?

There was one with three lines on it and one plain and they are definitely different. Apparently 7 & 8 HP. One is larger on the SG pulley end for a larger pulley and more clearance overall. I think its the one with the lines. Looks like you have the plain one. We was just yakin about this i was having a fit trying to get one to quit rattlin. Here I had the wrong one. Bar Nuthin 3,356 #33 Posted October 16 Now that I've eliminated the hot spots and the belt slap. I think I'll go with the plan to separate the spot welds and relocate the bracket. 1
Bar Nuthin 3,356 #34 Posted 3 hours ago Looking at my regulator compared to the wiring diagram - mine has a 4th terminal and it's connected to the forward stud on the generator (I assume hot only when key in start position). Anyone else seen this? Is it supposed to be wired to that terminal? The tractor seemed to run and charge okay.
pfrederi 21,217 #35 Posted 3 hours ago That is the A or Gen Terminal. Goes to the A terminal on the genny with the heavy starter wire. it is a kohler part doesn't show up on WH wire diagram
