 I just saw this listing on Ebay. The 551 is my favorite ball burner and this one looks like a good one. Would you guys mind looking over the pics and helping me decide what a reasonable max bid might be? Ebay # 220202432494

Thank you

Very neat tractors. It's the one that started this whole garden tractor mess for me. Bought mine from a friend at work. It had been setting in his dads shed for many many years. I'm the second owner now. Got mine for 75 bucks with all the metal guards there, mowing deck, two 4hp Kohler engines and all his paperwork.

Guess I got pretty lucky but it's now snowballing into more tractors all the time.

This one your looking at has a nice reel mower I'd like. It very well could bring good money like pond195520032003 was saying.

I saw that a little while ago too. I guess I was wrong about him needing that reel in the title, eh? Did you also notice that the current winning bidder has put in "protection" bids twice over himself?

Well I will tell ya'.

After a certain dollar figure ...... I need to see more then pictures AND a guaranty that if not satisfied the deal is off. If you are going to spend a good amount of money for a collectible tractor it makes sence to look it over. Now I have bought tractors by picture alone .... some good buys and some bad buys BUT if I am going to spend more then $1,000 .... I want to see what I am buying!

On the auction for the 551 ..... at this point at over $1,400 and 6 days left to go it is a cat fight between two bidders and the tractor will go for more then what it is worth.

Currently, at almost $1500.00, I figure it's already beyond what it's worth by about $600.00 to $700.00 (my calculations, of course  )

If I was the seller, I'd be jumping up and down though!

I seen that also & can admit to knowing some of the bidders....:thumbs:

This is kinda why I tend to avoid ebay tractors & parts.

Seems like no matter what something is worth...bid frenzys are created.

The 551 looks nice & the front reel mower is VERY desirable.

Very desirable to a few collectors with deep pockets too. :D

Terry, how many craigslists DO you shop?

All of them, Jason.

I just go to Google and type "Craislist Wheel Horse" (or WheelHorse) in the search box and whatever comes up that looks interesting, I check out.

That's Dave Brown. I've been to his place before! (about two hours from me)

I also like the 520H "roller" he has listed.

I might have to go see him again! (unless Eldon see it too!)

Yes, I asked him about it and he is keeping it for his other 520H. He purchased this one in Indiana somewhere with the 48" deck and later found one at his local dealer with a 60" deck, purchased it and decided to sell the first one. The tractor looks to be in very good condition. I'll have to look for a 60" deck and 2 stage snowblower for it.
