Hello, good afternoon from Spain. I’d like to install a pedal-operated throttle on my 702; has anyone done this modification who could share some ideas and perhaps a photo? Thanks.

I believe that the garden Tractor Pulling Class rules require the use of a non-locking dead-man's throttle - check the Pulling Tractor section on the Forum.

If your plan is to drive on smooth roadways or to enter pulling contests a foot throttle would be OK but for cutting grass or going on rough terrain you will be better of with a hand throttle.

        To ensure proper lubrication and cooling a working Wheel Horse, it should be run at WOT (wide open throttle.

 

The foot throttle on my dragster was not a working tractor.  It was designed for show, wheel stands, speed, and speed shifting without using the clutch.

Sorry I never drove the Little Red Wagon but I did drive the original  Ammon R Smith  Old Reliable a few times.

you know I bought a low mileage '62 Chevy with a beefed up frame from a dealer who told me it had just been driven short distances on Sundays.      could be it was this one.

The one I dove was a '59 that was  driven a 1/4 mile on Saturday nights @ US30.

My cousin had a late 60’s Dodge I wondered about. Upgraded engine, suspension, etc. But he lived in NYC!

Found out he would cruise over to a certain expressway with a long straight run between exits where cohorts would jump on, quickly stop across all the lanes to block traffic for a couple of minutes and then three cars would drag race to the next exit and quickly vamoose the area. Apparently he did ok. 

Nowadays, a couple of speed cameras plus cell phones and social media would be the end of that game.
