Beap52 2,427 #6 Posted 18 minutes ago I hunt and eat only morels. On January 3rd, I posted under gardening showing what I am hoping to be my home grown morel patch. It seems that I have been able to grow morels. (I thought I did a follow-up of my harvest this past spring but don't find it.) I have been pouring the water, from which I wash my morels in, along a fence and found two one year, the next year five and this past spring 15. I've even found where folks are making a slurry to help grow morels and have been using it the past couple of years. The first picture shows plastic cups I put over the mushrooms to protect them from critters. (If you zoom, you should be able to see more plastic cups covering others.) I discovered that mushrooms grow. I've always believed that when I found a morel, that was it's full size. When i found these morels, they were probably 1" tall and ended up ~4" tall eight days later when I harvested them. The cups kept them really fresh. Second picture is a morel just before harvesting. My problem is that nearly all of the mushrooms are found on my neighbor's land. He now has cattle there and I'm considering of asking a favor if I can put up temporary fence in the mushroom patch next spring. We have lived in this house for twenty years and have never found a morel until three years ago-after seeding the patch for past five years. I wouldn't likely eat the mushroom that Ed (or whatever his name is ) has found. I've got a friend who tried other types of wild mushrooms and says nothing tastes like morels and decided their not worth hunting Quote 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
