Hello, I have a wheelhorse 110-4 mower with an 900-028 peerless transmission and it goes into gear when started up then shoots forward a couple of centimeters en then does not move anymore and I also cannot move the shifter out of gear.

The pully does keep turning but no power is transmitted I hope someone can help me with this issue

If I understand your description of your trouble, the tractor does not move and the shifter acts like it is jammed in place.

That sounds to me like the trans is stuck in 2 gears at once.  It has been 20, maybe 30 years since I've been into  Peerless, so I'm working from memory.  If my memory is correct, that transmission is a constant mesh unit that picks what gear it is in with a sliding shaft that has a key that is one gear wide - or something similar.

I'd expect that you will need to open the case and see what is jammed.

I had to get into mine to replace the bevel gears on the input shaft - my son's were teenagers at the time and they treated the Craftsman mower like a race car.

Good luck.

I recall in the distant past that owners were having a lot of shift key problems but never understood the problem nor have I every seen some. Never hear of it anymore unless that is the problem with this one.
