pfrederi 21,063 #26 Posted 19 hours ago (edited) Points or condenser failure will NOT keep it from cranking the engine.. Will it crank of you jump from Battery + to the starter motor terminal? If it does then either your solenoid is bad or a wire has failed (bat to solenoid and Solenoid to starter ) Wouldn't hurt to check your grounds' Do you get 12 v at eh small solenoid terminal with key in start Edited 19 hours ago by pfrederi
McTurff 6 #27 Posted 19 hours ago I do get 12v at solenoid I will try jumping to starter Running all the tests Thanks for helping I will post update
McTurff 6 #28 Posted 18 hours ago Went directly from battery to starter With jumper cables to test starter independently and starter turns and works fine??? Solenoid tests good but still wondering if its Solenoid I get power everywhere ? Somethings got to give
pfrederi 21,063 #29 Posted 17 hours ago (edited) The heavy wires may test ok for continuity but are not passing enough amperage to spin the starter. If you jump the two big terminals of the solenoid and it cranks then yo need a new solenoid if it doesn't crank start checking the heavy cables... I have use ones like these Edited 17 hours ago by pfrederi

McTurff 6 #33 Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Put new solinoid on and got nothing! i'm totally stumped Power goes to everything Grounds all good have changed nothing since it was running shined up all connections and grounds before running I don't know if regulator would cause this at this point nothing makes sense Edited 12 hours ago by McTurff
McTurff 6 #34 Posted 12 hours ago Maybe getting somewhere I took a ground wire from neg battery and grounded to frame turned the key and the solenoid activates but the starter did nothing! Really confused now 😄
pfrederi 21,063 #35 Posted 11 hours ago Can you post a [picture of the wires I suspect they may be your issue...they can look OK but not pass enough current....
McTurff 6 #36 Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I just can't see how anything has changed on wiring since it last ran and after aching unless a ground fried when arched but here are some pics Edited 10 hours ago by McTurff
pfrederi 21,063 #42 Posted 9 hours ago The battery ground seems to go to sheet metal...maybe ground the battery to an engine mounting bolt or something on the block???
McTurff 6 #43 Posted 9 hours ago That's where all the grounds go on these tractors through my research it is solid metal ! It worked fine before but I will try anything at this point! Sure seems like I have bad ground somewhere but can't figure why arching it changed everything? Thanks for sticking with me on this!
