ineedanother 2,732 #1 Posted 11 hours ago My '70s c-series battery boxes never hold batteries well and I've had it on my list to go by a truck repair place for some mud flaps to rip down for filler strips. Wood blocks just annoy me for some reason. I saw a comment recently by @ebinmaine that got me to thinking. I think it was about felt pads so I went to the garage and knew I had these expansion joints for concrete. I'm going to rip some down and think they'll work well. Anyone else have a good solution? 2
c-series don 12,284 #2 Posted 11 hours ago I think that’s a pretty darn good idea! That stuff has a little cushion to it that will help hold it in place and absorb some of the vibration. I/we are going to want to know how well it works!
ri702bill 12,680 #3 Posted 4 hours ago Did you consider moisture retention if that material gets wet that can cause rust & rot? Add in a tad of battery acid and the bad things can happen fast...
953 nut 68,082 #4 Posted 3 hours ago If you could find an old US Navy Wool Peacoat that would be the answer. Wool just sheds acid and the Peacoats were very thick.

ebinmaine 80,039 #6 Posted 2 hours ago I started buying these red anodized aluminum battery hold down bars. They work for the larger Automotive style batteries as seen below and also for the standard garden tractor battery. You will have to drill a hole in the battery tray for the J Bolt on either side.
