Plow Skids

Recommended Posts

1987_WHEEHORSE312

Hey guys!

Has anyone found plow skids that work that bolt on and also adjustable on the fly? My driveway is mostly gravel but I have a pavement apron at the end, as well as my neighbors driveways that are pavement that I plow for them too. I dont have a welder so being able to bolt stuff together is my only option.  Thanks!

:confusion-confused:            You planning on putting them on some sort of electric linear actuator or hydraulic cylinder?

No, just want pins i can pull and slide thwm manually out. Adjustable on the fly meaning no tools needed to slide them up or down.

Thanks! Do they have a bracket that will bolt onto the existing holes on the plow?

Got to fabricate something of your own.

Not sure what your plow has on it but there are 90⁰ angle pieces available from Home Depot that could be considered.

FWIW.  I've tried those exact skids.

I have some you can have for the freight.

We stopped using plow skids because they dug into our driveway.

another thing to consider is when the blade is fully angled the skids/shoes can rub the front tires

ATV UTV SNOW PLOW BLADE SKID SHOE 5/8" SHAFT 3-1/2" WIDE FITS MOOSE - Picture 1 of 6

FYI --- When linking any of those things like that could you please delete EVERYTHING after the ? in your post. Everything after the ? is tracking BS that we don't want or need when clicking on it. I didn't know that either until @Handy Don pointed that out a while go. The rest is deleted  but the link still links

Thanks! Yea the actual skids is the easy part, making a mounting bracket it hard given I dont have a welder.

Maybe I should just use the pipe trick then? I dont want skids digging into my driveway either.

You might be better off.  Our driveway has some soft spots where the water settles a bit. Once it freezes here, it stays solid for a couple months or more.

Several years ago we started tilting the plow blade forward one hole further than standard. That works very good and also helps the snow roll off to the sides better.

There is but they want to charge $150 to weld them. My buddy has a cheap mig but it runs off 120v, which makes him not sure its gonna get hot enough.

Yea, I was looking into stuff and realized that if the skids sit up, ill always have a half inch of snow left, where with the pipe method it gets it alot cleaner.
