Sounds like something that would "fall off" when I rebuild a wiring harness.

Pretty easy to find if it falls on the floor.

Hmmm. Now curious. Maybe a solenoid that mimics the clutch switch until the engine is running?

Here's an old thread about it.

Yep. Internally it overrides the clutch switch (i.e. prevents grounding the magneto) to allow the engine to start.

Once sufficient voltage from the magneto is reached, the override ends which would seem to want to shut down the engine.

There must be something else in play that lets the engine keep running once started, since otherwise releasing the clutch would shut it down!

It's a little mystery device that allows the tractor to bypass clutch interlock switch and start the engine while standing along side it.

As I remember it.

I don't think I understand all I know about this little device. Why would a pull start tractor have a clutch safety switch in the first place? I could see how a neutral switch would be handy to have though for keeping that horse from running away on ya.:auto-layrubber:

That might have been a company standard, or government regulation.

Trina has a pull start Horse here that @Sparky once owned.

She can sit in the seat and tug the rope just fine.

The first cold start of a day is a challenge. After that it's a one pull machine.

Absolutely NOT.

NO ONE does anything for Trina unless she WANTS it that way.
