Gary S Minnesota 62 #1 Posted 12 hours ago Hey Folks, I picked up a nice 1977 C160 two years ago and finally have it purring sweetly. I ultrasonically cleaned the carb, replaced the fuel lines and pump and finally installed new points, condenser and coil. ( later found the old coil was fine). My question now involves the hydro unit.. It seems to have plenty of power, easily lifting the mounted 2 stage snow thrower. What puzzles me is that when the hydro lifts the blower, the engine RPM drops a bit. The RPM then stays at this lower speed until the the blower is lowered again relieving the load. Is this normal for a Sunstrand unit? Just curious? My 520 H with the Eaton 110 will also lose a bit of RPM when lifting but the RPM quickly returns to normal once the up lever is released and the load remains in the up position. 953 nut 67,840 #2 Posted 2 hours ago The hydro pump consumes about two horse power doing the lifting, even with a 42" snow plow the hydro will slow the engine a bit during lift. peter lena 9,984 #4 Posted 1 hour ago @ML3 totally agree on that ! been a spring assist , addict for years , adding a heavy eye bolt for a go to spot is regular for me ! now combine that with lubrication detailing. and enhance details as you go , started with choke and throttle cable , pull back assist spring to close / stop ? that way you always have pull assist , now add penetrating oil to those cables , mine in use for years , 3 tractors . functional detailing is an addiction for me , EX , WHY DOES THIS KEEP FAILING ? . ironically its usually a lay out / part failure , easily ENHANCED , favorite helper ? roller stool , picking up every , INTENDED STEP , then INSURING it . what stands out to me in your lower picture ? FLAT IDLER BELT PULLEY , known for rotational LUBRICATIONAL failure , enhance it . red aerosol grease , tiny bearing , heat / stress hang ups , good for you , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
