Goldnboy 1,138 #1 Posted 14 hours ago The other day I was replacing the rubber with solid mounts and noticed at the end of the task that took me nearly 4 hrs that the stud on one mounting block was broken. I decided to use this j bolt through a existing hole on the frame to the top hole of the mounting block.(I didn't get anything out of the mounting block hole and tried a allen wrench in case a bolt was in there hidden) Everything is rigid now is this a viable long term fix? Gasaholic 387 #2 Posted 13 hours ago Nope. eventually the metal of the J bolt is going to fatigue and relax its hold and it'll come loose again . only real fix is to remove the mount block and drill out the broken bolt, re-thread and a new bolt & lockwasher torqued properly , 3/8 bolt is typically around 320 inch pounds or 25 - 30 Ft Lbs and you'll want to tighten the 2 block bolts evenly so as to not distort the frame or put stress into the block... J-bolt won't last permanently. in that usage , it wont hold torque. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

oliver2-44 11,652 #4 Posted 4 hours ago There have been multiple tractors with regular overhung Kohler on here where they replaced the Kohler with an oil pan that that didn’t have holes in the bottom to bolt to the frame. They used 2 J bolts. You’re just using one. You’re fine unless your workinghell out of it. Just check that J bolt every year. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
