Goldnboy 1,138 #1 Posted 2 hours ago The other day I was replacing the rubber with solid mounts and noticed at the end of the task that took me nearly 4 hrs that the stud on one mounting block was broken. I decided to use this j bolt through a existing hole on the frame to the top hole of the mounting block.(I didn't get anything out of the mounting block hole and tried a allen wrench in case a bolt was in there hidden) Everything is rigid now is this a viable long term fix? Gasaholic 386 #2 Posted 1 hour ago Nope. eventually the metal of the J bolt is going to fatigue and relax its hold and it'll come loose again . only real fix is to remove the mount block and drill out the broken bolt, re-thread and a new bolt & lockwasher torqued properly , 3/8 bolt is typically around 320 inch pounds or 25 - 30 Ft Lbs and you'll want to tighten the 2 block bolts evenly so as to not distort the frame or put stress into the block... J-bolt won't last permanently. in that usage , it wont hold torque. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
