If your opening post in this thread is about a search for a fuel pump, why is the thread titled "Engine"?

 

The title of the thread should, ostensibly, give some indication of what the thread is intended to be about, so that someone reading said title would have an idea if they can contribute meaningfully.

 

You wouldn't write a book about the history of the American railroad system and title it "Airport", would you?

@JOEPOE1977  realise you want original type of pump , only a suggestion , been using  CARBOLE LOW PRESSURE  3,5 PSI , pumps for years , very solid reliable , get a  blank   engine plate to  cover engine mounting spot  .easily hooked up to run on ,switch , never had an issue many hours / years , also have a fuel filter  at tank and just before carb . pete

I made a mounting plate and installed a vacuum pump.  Have several machines running these.

Vacuum pumps work well. The only hard spot I have for them and the mechanical pumps is that if the diaphragm develops a leak you will be sucking gasoline into the crankcase of your engine.

I have had 2 mochines do this (857 and 701) luckily, I caught both before they had gotten real bad. I went back with rebuilt Mech pumps but have used Electric pumps on others and have had great luck with them. If you don't mind not being a "traditionalist" electric is only way to go IMO.
