Need Advice On Locating Replacement Glass Bowl Fuel Filter Element & Gasket

Regarding the glass bowl fuel filter, where can I buy a replacement fuel filter element and gasket to seal the glass bowl to the filter casting?

I tried Then & Now Automotive, which is where I bought the kit to rebuild the pulse fuel pump, but they said they replace the elements with a screen and I think I'd rather stick with the original style element.  If possible.

Wheel Horse 753 (1963 model year)

Kohler Engine: 7 hp, SN 652365, Engine Spec Number 28626E, Engine Model Number is K161S

We actually tried an aftermarket glass bowl filter assembly but the needle leaks on it so we thought we'd try to go back to the original unit and get an element and gasket for it.

That's a great suggestion and...if I strike out finding a replacement element...I will probably do that.

Napa. There are 2 sizes. I sold a boatload of bowls and gaskets back in the day.

 

Most likely bowl size BK S66147

 

Gasket/screen  BK S65544

Does using the screen eliminate the feature of debris collecting at the bottom of the glass bowl?

no.  The purpose is the gas comes into the bowl and the junk has a chance to settle out then  the gas exits through the screen to the carb

great minds think alike this is exactly same combo I run on my round hoods, I could get this cheap as I could try and rebuild old one.

No, I didn't know this was necessary.  Please explain...

Tightening the nut just enough to squeeze the packing tighter around the needle to stop it from leaking, and then a tad more. Too tight only makes the needle hard to turn and can destroy the packing.

 

 Honestly i only ever close mine at the end of mowing season. I close it and let the motor run the carb bowl empty.

OK, I'll try this and see if it works but my dad who owns the mower (his dad, my grandfather, bought it new) would prefer to keep it as original as possible.  Thus, still hoping to get a replacement element for the original glass bowl filter.
