sqrlgtr 3,799 #1 Posted July 27 Headlight sockets were falling out of headlight bucket on C-160 and someone had evidently tried to tighten up the bulb base fitment by squeezing them with a pair of pliers . Got 2 1156 light sockets from LAPS and replaced the warped ones, added a little silver 100mph tape and some led bulbs, turned out great. Btw addded a ground wire to middle of headlight bucket so I wouldnt have to rely on hood hinge ground . 4 7 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ri702bill 12,912 #2 Posted July 27 (edited) That ground wire is super important - when I reburbed the C81, I used a 2 wire polarized trailer plug pair at the hood hinge so that the wiring could be easily unplugged if the hood needed to be removed. Sorry, no picture... Funny I had a trailer plug that I was going to use but could only find one side of it. Probably step on it tomorrow . I tied hot wires coming from light sockets together then used bullet connectors for them and ground wire fer a quick disconnect. It doesn’t look super complicated, but I figured I’d get a good idea what I was in for. Nice work too, looks like the LED’s are definitely an upgrade from the stock bulbs. My headlight bucket had been "worked on" before and someone had ruined the light sockets, so I had to take a center punch and go around the lip of socket to get them out. Actually, took longer to remove light sockets and clean the 40yrs of dirt and grim off than anything else. If you don't have to remove old light sockets it isn't bad at all.
