Mule Drive Pulley Broken

Hello, 

 

Had a pulley in my Mule Drive self disassemble. I have a 520H and looked in the parts manual and the Mule Drive isn't in there, my mower deck PN is either "C560SC01" OR "10525" which I was also unable to find a parts manual for.

 

I would imagine I need to replace the shaft, as the race is pretty marred. The pulley itself doesn't seem to have damage but if I'm buying everything I might as well replace it.

 

A secondary question would be why it broke. I have noticed that my PTO will kick off while mowing a lot, especially when mowing in taller grass too fast. So I just turned in the PTO adjustment a turn (maybe every other week this year) until this broke this weak. What would be a good way to get the PTO adjustment and Mule adjustment where I'm aligned and tightened properly?

One of the best features about Wheel Horse is interchangeability of implements and attachments. The manual below has the parts listed individually but yours appears to need a complete replacement. The mule drive on your 1990 60" mower is the same as other dives.

The spring loaded mule drives used on the 520 are not as common as the regular mule drives.   You can place an ad in our classified wanted section or contact A to Z tractor parts

I would venture to say you had a bearing going bad and dragging the belt. 

The shaft should be okay as long as you can get the old race off. just clean up the burs so the new pulley slides on.

@Hayden   glairing to me ?  again , lubrication  load stress failure , those 6203 bearings with  wide rubber seal access , is literally showing you the way  , small flat  pocket screwdriver or  small flat putty knife , carefully  pop out seals  , both sides , wipe out and carb cleaner flush , repack with  lucas  xtra hd green chassis grease ? 550 degree flash point , polyurea rated (  anti sling )  stays with bearing , what a concept !  also have this on my set up on 3  horses , EVERY RELATED MOVEMENT  POINT  , MOVES WITH TOTAL EASE , no frayed belts , no whyining  bearings , never burned out a clutch disc ,2 basic stages ?  insure functional  detailing , and  lucas green chassis grease , every spindle , and pulley , clean out every bearing / carb cleaner flush , no cross contamination , of original  lube . this does not fail , have this in regular use for years , bTW  , that pto lever set up is a GOLD MINE , for  functional / easy  lever start  . love repetitive problems ?  they show you the way to change .  like a heim joint , pete
