Bull 37 #1 Posted 8 hours ago Hello All, I have pulled the cylinder heads on my KT17 series 2 motor and came up with following stamped numbers: Pistons: 52058-25 Connecting Rod:52 059 06. pfrederi 20,866 #5 Posted 1 hour ago You bring up an interesting question. Kohler part numbers are 7 digits plus a suffix. Which you show but I can't find a match. Looking at some other Kohler engine parts left over from overhauls the numbers cast in the connecting rod do not match the part# listed in manuals... Usually over pistons are stamped .010 etc standard piston may be stamped STD or not marked at all. I think you are going to have to measure...I seriously doubt your engine has been overhauled and if yours isn't marked probably is std. If you are going to do an overhaul research what parts are available and how much they will cost you some things are getting harder to find. i did overhaul an M-18 a few years ago some parts were hard to find or expensive and of course machine shop work is expensive as everything is times 2. Bull 37 #6 Posted 34 minutes ago Hello, I want to do a partial overhaul and realize that going up ring sizes incurs connecting rod changeouts and crank modifications. I am looking at cleaning the heads, valves, and flex-hone the cylinders for cross hatch. Then would like to clean pistons and add new rings. I have measured the cylinders as best I could and am looking at something close to 3.125". I will try the feeler gauge option that I found on this site. I really don't want to attempt a complete overhaul. I was just trying to see if those part numbers indicated a standard set of rings, pistons, and rods. I have owned the machine for about 5 years with supposed low hours (450) and put on another 100 hours on it. The part numbers on the piston and connecting rods confused me when comparing those numbers to my manual.
