953 nut 67,328 #1 Posted 12 hours ago July 17, 1955 Disneyland, Walt Disney’s metropolis of nostalgia, fantasy and futurism, opens. The $17 million theme park was built on 160 acres of former orange groves in Anaheim, California, and soon brought in staggering profits. Today, Disneyland hosts more than 18 million visitors a year, who spend close to $3 billion. 1

8ntruck 9,029 #5 Posted 8 hours ago I've wanted to do a video montage at Disneyland of bits of tired, crying kids and title it "Disneyland, the happiest place on earth". 1
Beap52 2,341 #6 Posted 1 hour ago We went to Disneyland in the early to mid '60's. Then you purchased a book of tickets "A" through "D" or something. It seemed like some rides were not a popular so these may be an "A" ticket of which you received more of. Somewhere, I still have the ticket book with a few of the tickets left in them. We were visiting our rather frugal aunt and uncle that lived in California. Instead of eating the expensive food within the park we walked to a McDonalds some distance away. That was a bummer, we lost quite a bit of our day hiking to and from McDonalds. We've been to both theme parks multiple times. Won't likely ever go again. Last time, just a few years ago, the lines were horrible and I didn't understand the dialect of many of the folks who were standing in line with us. It was an amazing place to visit when we were kids though.
