hotajax 280 #1 Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Just so I understand this stuff, what is the small black wire that is attached to the battery side of the solenoid? Is that from the "on" side of the starter switch? There was a small black wire with a ring connector that went with the 4 gauge battery cable from the battery, and connected to the one side of the solenoid. BTW, I'm sure you astute guys figured out I had to have help getting it running An old farmer fixed it in like 5 mins. A simple circuit tester and screwdriver were all the tools that were necessary. Thanks in advance. Edited 23 hours ago by hotajax
rmaynard 17,415 #2 Posted 23 hours ago All models have wiring diagrams in their manual which can be found in our manuals section of this forum. That should answer your question.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,330 #3 Posted 15 hours ago That is likely the wire that feeds the ignition switch with battery power. A fuse in that wire would be good protection for the rest of the wiring. 1

There are a couple of possibilities here, Wheel Horse used black wires with a colored tracer line printed on it for several years. Presuming this is factory wiring there should be a RED line on that wire. The second possibility is that a previous owner had some black wire and decided to add something that needed power. Bar Nuthin 2,572 #5 Posted 10 hours ago If you post the model number of your tractor, most likely someone here will link you to the download files for the owner's manual, and wiring diagram. Or you can do a search on your model number and likely find those files. They can save you a lot of headaches.

NO red line on the small wire to the battery side of solenoid. All original wiring, and I am the original owner of this machine. She ain't much to look at, but she sure does get it done.
