cjb398 38 #1 Posted 2 hours ago I've got a 416-H with the Onan engine. The battery is not charging. I measure about 12.45 at the battery whether it is running or not. I get the same voltage at the regulator output with the engine at full throttle, so it is not charging the battery. I've cleaned and tested the connections and run through the diagnostics as explained in the topic below. It appears that my voltage regulator is not working. I noticed, however, that my AC voltage across the regulator terminals measures about 52 volts AC. Is this normal and will this cause the rectifier to go bad? And why would it be so high? ri702bill 12,353 #2 Posted 1 hour ago You may have a bad - corroded - ground where the rectifier housing meets the sheet metal. Remove the rectifier, clean the housing and the bolts. Reassemble & check. It is a common issue that shows up over a long time of use. Many of us add a ground cable from the rectifier bolt to a nearby point on the engine or chassis. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
