Sparky-(Admin) 25,679 #2 Posted yesterday at 02:52 PM I’m one of those that decided to head home Friday night. Not only did I not want to show up to a rainy day I also knew it would be a fraction of what the show was on Thursday & Friday. And I was able to drive home at normal highway speeds on dry pavement pulling my trailer, much preferred over driving in the rain. Hope those that stayed enjoyed what was left. 7

Ed Kennell 46,347 #4 Posted 21 hours ago Sorry Bob, I also bailed out Friday night. It's a real hassle trying to cover and uncover the buckets in wet weather. If I can find some young volunteers to help, maybe next year I'll unload in a barn. I did have two great days having some good conversations with many old members of my WH family. Also got to meet a few new members. I do have one suggestion for all us young members. Please wear your name tag like I do cause many of the more experienced members have filled thier data storage center and do not have room to store anymore names or faces. Anyway, safe travels to all. I just finished unloading the buckets till the next show. Oh Bob, I did find one more PTO brake bracket while unloading. 5
EB-80/8inPA 2,019 #5 Posted 20 hours ago I was not able to go except for Saturday. Got up early this morning, heard the rain pouring down, looked out the window and thought to myself “better luck next year.”

I know a young man who loves WH's and beagles, and is a very hard worker. Plus he can probably count it towards his service hours for scouts. kthack657 331 #7 Posted 15 hours ago So sad to see it so empty so early. It drizzled, not as bad as previous years, but there was so much talk of weather, I feel it drove so many away 😞. Still had a great time and had fun talking with you Bob and your grandson!! 1

Pouring rain and thunderstorms never seemed to chase the show goers before. This year it was entirely different. I'd say 30% left late Friday afternoon. I've never seen that and I've been attending since 2010. We left today at around 12:30.
Handy Don 16,795 #9 Posted 13 hours ago I’ve only been to four (or five?) shows. Rain on Thursday or Friday doesn’t inhibit much action. Saturday, though, is really only a half-day (or a bit more) anyway so the early bailouts were not surprising.
WHX?? 57,061 #10 Posted 11 hours ago Its no fun loading in the rain so we bugged out very early Saturday. Packed ip camp in rrcord time but still didn't beat the rain. We also have a 14 hour drive and Dan has to pull on Sunday. Next year he is gonna take vacation on Monday so we can stick around longer. 1
953 nut 66,886 #11 Posted 4 hours ago I had to load up Friday so I could head home Saturday. Weather wouldn't have mattered but I did need to get home for personal reasons. Ran in the rain several places along the way on I-81 but GOD blessed me with safe travels.

Well I got Ed pretty good there, because my user name here looks like a regular name, and isn't anything close to my real name. rmaynard 17,352 #14 Posted 3 hours ago I know that everyone had their reasons for leaving early. But many of the attendees can only be there on Saturday due to work schedules. And to make matters worse, Saturday's weather was not that bad.

Well I assure you, it made it to the right place. If the weather is a little more cooperative today we will get it out and I'll let my daughter run it around the yard some. I'm still learning to find the neutral position on the motion control.

I noticed it is pretty quick in forward. Be careful, we don't need any wheelies.
squonk 47,056 #18 Posted 2 hours ago I always leave between 10 and 11. Not everyone lives an hour away. Takes about 6 hrs. with a food stop and a fuel stop. Normally we get there on Sat and within about an hour start tearing down. I figured Fri night, "Why tear down in the rain for an hour's worth on Sat.?" No one can predict the weather. Yes it wasn't bad Sat but it could have been a downpour. Who knows? We were still there till 10:30 Great seeing you again @nylyon

Hopefully the group picture came out good and we can put names to faces there. Back to bailing early I remember my rookie year when the place cleared out on Saturday like cockroaches scurrying for darkness. I said wait where's everyone going were'e just starting to have fun and the weather is beut. I stayed 'till Sunday and then they had to kick me out. I guess it's just sad seeing a great party come to an end. 2

And the bypass valve was partially open on the way to the trailer, so I wasn't going super fast. I think it may have worked itself loose on the way, because I noticed it slowing down along the way. I have just been having trouble finding the neutral spot, it seems like if the engine is running it's moving in one direction or the other. But I've never dealt with an early hydro, so I'm sure it is something I'll feel out with time. I have trouble driving cars with automatics too.

I will be offering the option to add real names and city where you live for those who wish to share. 2
JoeM 10,054 #23 Posted 26 minutes ago I didn’t make it out this year, but I have been to eight or 10 shows and after the first couple and seeing most all WH machines, the show turns more into parts and swap meet rather than showing tractors. That seems to be the emphasis. My plan usually is to have one of the grandsons with me and spending time with them at the show and going different places around the local community is a really nice change. Saturday is a good day for a Gettysburg stop. Load up Friday afternoon and. I’ll leave my trailer at the show and then pick it up on the way back through. That’s usually how I do Saturday. I really wanted to bring my articulating XI to the show, but of course I didn’t make it so have to wait till next year maybe. I like building something different every year, working on a 520 framed power steering machine now. I enjoy the custom machines and I know it’s not for the purist at heart the guys that have to have the number matching red machines, yada yada yada is nice but I prefer coloring outside the lines. that’s my thoughts of the show and relative to Saturday and how I look at things name tags and real names, yes there should be somewhere a person should list their real name. (unless they are hiding from something)
