S/G Brushes

Recommended Posts

So my Commando 8 has started, in the last day or so here, to give starting issues. After I was done working tonight I checked, charging voltage is between about 11.25- 11.5, static key-off is 11.75. So the battery is a bit rough, but the generator also has an issue.

I couldn't find my jumper wires to go full-field, and I didn't have enough hands to do that and hold the voltmeter to the battery anyway.

Since a lot of times it won't crank, unless you hit the key over and over, I'm going to go ahead and guess the brushes are worn. I just need some help finding the right ones.

Delco Remy S/G brushes are all over the place on :techie-ebay:, this looks like a good one.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/389153897594?

FYI  You can delete everything after the ? when you post a link as that long nonsense stuff afterwards is just tracking. @Handy Don revealed that a while ago and I did not know that before he did.

You can jump the field terminal to ground with at light gauge wire.  You should hear the engine slow and labor a bit if the genny is working

Check the bearings also while in there! Some have roller, some have sleeve, some both!
