Red Wing Boots - Any Good or All Hype With Big Price?

Any of you gents wear them?  I need for general yard / field work, and general walking around.  Want something comfortable, supportive, and durable.  So lay it on my.  The price tag and shipping is pushing 4 bills.  Thanks.

@hotajax  would shop around  for similar  , build / type , biggest difference today  , is EVERYTHING COMES FROM CHINA,  lots of pressure gluing , wich usualy starts the overall failure  . regularly got  work boots at  work , with drive in trucks , always favored a box toe , safety , also  liked the  6 / 8 inch  easy on and off . your general yard work , also helps with no  chemical / solvents , to assist  early  rot / break down . also  regularly used boot oil  , to enhance , and feed the leather . pete

I've had several pair. Very good. But have had two pair of Keens lately. More comfortable and way more affordable. Always steel toe.

Red wings come in USA made and non USA . Been wearing their USA boots since 1990, it's all I wear for work. I work in a trade and they hold up and never fall apart. Keep them clean by washing them with soap and water, use boot oil when they dry maybe twice a year depending on usage. Yes they are not cheap. I also use their Logger steel toe boot for woods work and splitting wood.  Again not cheap. Wouldn't wear any other brand . Big fan here.  Good Luck

I wear them for work. If you are on your feet all day for work, yes 100%. If you are just wearing them for worm around thr house,  no. They last, but they take a long time to break in compared to other brands, and they are very uncomfortable while they are breaking in. I keep two pairs regularly and switch them every day, and when I replace a pair I don't get rid of the old ones until the new ones are broken in, because sometimes I just have to wear the old ones for a day to give my feet a break from the new stiff ones.

I prefer Danner and wear them daily but comparable in price with Red Wing and some are made off-shore now.

I wore the steel toe Red Wings for 30 years while working.   A new pair every year supplied by the company.     After retiring, I switched to USA made Danners and Rockys.   All good boots if USA made.   My go to boots are a pair of 30 yo Rockys that have been resoled twice.

10 years for a pair of boots on these scraggly hooves is amazing. I hope to find some more.

Bought a pair of Reds 45 years ago for hunting and was a great boot. Payed over a 100 for them which was a princely sum back then for boots. Wore them so much I wore the soles off. Took them to a cobbler back in the good old days when shoe guys had a shop in their basement. 

He resoled them but after that they never fit right. Took them back to the cobbler and he told me nothing he could do as they were so well made and not meant to be resoled. Told me to pass them along to someone with smaller hoofs. 

Don't remember what I ever did with them but they sure were nice. 

Now my go to is Irish Settlers or Rockies.

My dad has had a pair of redwings each year since 2006 and he says they’re fantastic
