Can someone help me out with a link or something of that nature for bearings or new pulleys for mule drive and also the pulleys and spindles for a 42 inch rd deck.

Thank you in advance

The mule drive came with the deck so you should try to identify the deck you have.

The spindle bearings will help identify what you have. The spindles may have been upgraded in the past.

Here is a list of the 42" rear discharge decks.

Mower DNA 42" rear discharge

1976 model 65-42MR01 replaced by - (Has the flat spindle belt idler pulley mounted on a triangular plate.) - (Has multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

1977 model 75-42MR01 - Both use blades with 5/8" x 3/4" double-D center hole unless the spindles have been upgraded. (Has the flat spindle belt idler pulley mounted on a triangular plate) - (Has multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These all use blades with 3/4" center hole.

1977 model 75-42MR02 replaced by - (Has the flat spindle belt idler pulley mounted on a flat bar) (Has multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

1978 model 85-42MR01 - (Has the flat spindle belt idler pulley mounted on a flat bar) (Has multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

1979 model 95-42MR01 - Shares an illustrated parts list with 85-42MR01 - (Has the flat spindle belt idler pulley mounted on a flat bar) (Has multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

1979 model 95-42MR02 - (Has no multi-link hardware at the gauge wheel support)

1980-1983 model 05-42MR01

1984 model 05-42MR02 - Last year for bearings with 3/4" ID

1985 model 05-42MR03 - First year for bearings with 17mm ID unless older spindles were updated.

1986-1988 model 05-42MR04

1989-1990 model 15-42RC01

1990-1992 model 15-42RC02

1993-2012 model 78350

Note - 17mm is .669"

Is there a number on the spindles?

Not that I am aware of. If you go into our files and use a model number in the list look for at least an IPL (illustrated parts list) for that model. Click on a file and there will be some thumbnails come up. Click on them to enlarge. The appropriate pages from the Spindle ID Chart will come up. Nothing to download unless you want the full file.

something I go by

if the you take the top nut off of one of the spindles and the pulley is has a key then the bearing is a 6203-12 or 6203 2rs -3/4 these are the bearings used in the mule drives also WH #106085 (on the spindles you have to pop off the inner rubber seal if you choose to grease the bearing with the zerk

The  mule drive 104974 v idler 104975 flat sheave idler

if your pulley is not keyed and the nut has a lock washer under it then it is a 6203 2rs bearing metric 17x40x12 3/4x40x12

yes both bearings are readily available. there’s no magic in getting the bearings from Toro as they will send offshore manufactured bearings anyway those bearings you can get Amazon eBay.

Sorry to hijacked this thread,  but I have a mule drive with cast iron pulleys.  What bearings do I need to replace the ones in the pulleys.  Thanks.

The 6203-12 is metric on the outside but 12/16" = 3/4" on the inside.

After some time in the 70's all mule drives had stamped steel pulleys welded together.. They use the same 6203-12 ( 40 mm OD,  3/4" ID, and 12mm wide ) as the cast pulleys.

The spindle bearings are either 6203-12 with 3/4" spindles or later 6203 RS (  40 mm OD  17 mm ID,  and 12mm wide ). with 17 mm spindles, they will have 5/8" nut on top and the 3/4" nut on the blade.
