jtb1689 1 #1 Posted 17 hours ago Hello everyone, Apologies if this is in the wrong form but I wasn't sure if a hose in trying to ID is for the engine or transmission. Been reading this forum and others for hours with no luck. I inherited a 244-H that was maintained well. It's running pretty good, haven't had any real issues. However, I noticed one day when cleaning the top of the mower deck that a hose, which looked to be a vacuum hose, got cut by the pulley. I pulled and the entire hose came out. Problem is, I have NO idea what this hose was even for or where the ends went. It seems like it ran from somewhere near the back of engine or under seat where transmission is, all the way to the front of the tractor. Looks like fuel line, but it isn't for fuel. Tractor continues to run great, so I imagine it's a breather hose with little consequence? In the attached image, item 20 is a cable tie - this is what one end of the hose was attached to at the very front, just under the muffler. Item 3, a clip, is a hose clip right above the mower deck, near the pulley and belt - the hose was also in that. Anyone know what this hose is for? Would love to replace it if I could figure out where the heck it went. Thanks in advance! Great forum y'all have here - no doubt I'll be coming back as I work to keep this 244-H going. 8ntruck 8,938 #3 Posted 6 hours ago to the forum. I'm guessing here, as I am not familiarwith that model. That hose seems like it might be a drain hose or a vent hose for something - especially if it is disconnected and the engine is still running well. Good luck and have fun with your tractor. This is what I'm thinking as well...just can't find the source.
jtb1689 1 #5 Posted 4 hours ago I believe I have it figured out. It may have been the battery tray drain hose. The battery tray has a hole in it and it just points straight down, above the pulley in the middle of the deck. Looking at another post on the 520H(https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/115709-520h-battery-tray-drain-tube/) while a different tractor, my battery tray looks identical and the pictures from Cleat seem to show that hose extending quite a ways away. Perhaps mystery solved!
