C121 drive belt

I have tried searching for an answer to my question on this site, but struggling. My question is this - what drive belt (engine to 8-speed transmission) do I need for my 1979 C121 (91-12K801) tractor? I want to order one without taking the old one off and measuring it (it's summer here and everything is growing fast). I have read that it's a 7478, but I have also seen 7473, which is correct?

Welcome to the forum, it looks like the 7478 is the correct belt

I think you nay have misread the diagram

 

The 7478 is for a hydro (see the top pulley picture)  Parts diagram coverdmore than on etracto.

 

Gear drives are 7473 the bottom # 6

 I buy my 7473  Belts. from Tractor Supply  ( 5/8" x  82" ) .Aramid Blue Belt.

@BobR don,t forget to get some penetrating oil . and aerosol  red spray grease an all related , lever / linkage  connection points , should move with  solid / smooth ease . MAKE THE RUST RUN OUT , PETE
