jeffery schauer 0 #1 Posted yesterday at 03:30 PM 1980 D160. Newbie. This has the 105027 6 prong switch. Has PTO and loader. Electric clutch PTO. Hours of searching cannot find. Hoping someone has info to find or update to different switch. Do NOT want to bypass any safety features. I have the engine and tractor schematics but not understanding how this switch works to convert to something else. Broke off the center red wire prong while removing switch from dash to clean and test. Biggest switch shoved right behind the steering column......
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,265 #2 Posted yesterday at 05:38 PM I think a double pole single throw toggle switch should work. This is two separate switches in one controlled by the same toggle. A 10 or 15 amp switch should be adequate. A double pole double throw switch may be easier to find. They are the same 2 switches in one but the toggle is ON OFF ON. You would use one ON OFF. One side for the starter circuit. The other side for the ignition. Instead of the yellow wire going from the ignition power to the pto clutch add a relay and have the relay coil powered by the yellow wire. That way the relay carries the heavy pto load instead of the switch. Here is a link to a Canadian company similar to Harbour Freight. A relay and socket https://www.princessauto.com/en/product/12v-dc-change-over-relay-with-sockets/PA1000003067
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,265 #3 Posted 17 hours ago Made a couple of mistakes. The switch I linked you to is a momentary switch so will not work. It will require a double pole double throw switch. Made up a drawing. Anyone see anything wrong with it?
jeffery schauer 0 #4 Posted 7 hours ago Stern appears to make a 6 pole DPDT switch, unless someone has a better option. Would like to just buy an oem switch. The 6 pole 105027 appears unobtainable. Still need to figure out why my oem switch jumps the yellow wire between coil, seat, and another unnamed terminal on oem switch as per schematic. If I install the PTO clutch relay as you recommended, my limited electrical brain should should be able to figure out. Thanks alot for the help. I really appreciate it. All the safety switches, ammmeter, and hour meter were bypassed. Trying to get everything functional again and wire color coded while I have the motor out. jeffery schauer 0 #5 Posted 7 hours ago Is this a DPDT 6 pin, on - on, 2 position switch ? sorry, these switches come in many different configurations. Found 18amp option if correct, at Grainger.

The pto clutch is a heavy electrical load and adding the relay takes that away from the ignition switch, seat switch and new pto switch. Those should last much longer. The relay is very common today and not expensive for what they do.
