School me on the D160

I decided to start out with a new AGM battery for a base.  I went with the "Too much is just right" line of thought and dropped in a car battery.  I donated the old battery to my Lowe's rider. The plastic tray under the battery just touches the hyro control linkage rod. I had some nice battery clamps laying around from another project and they worked perfect with the D's battery cable terminal ends.  After running for an hour a full throttle it showed 14.5+ volts.  I still have a bunch of stuff to check out on the electrical side and now the Onan seems to have developed a lean condition as it only likes to run with the choke on.  Fuel pump, filter, intake, carb all need a look.  I don't know much about these Onan's.  I took a service school on them many years ago but I've slept since then.

I keep diving deeper into the D160 but I enjoy the learning process as it hasn't cost me too much...yet.  Checked the fuel pump by removing the top of the carb (DD) and cranking.  When I removed the top of the carb the bowl was bone dry.  No fuel came out of the little port on the carb when I cranked the engine over.  I'm getting good fuel flow to the pump so I'll take the pump apart tomorrow.  While I'm at it I'll pull the intake and carb (not OEM) and while I'm "right there" might as well check the valve adjustment.  I'll probably be pulling the electric PTO clutch off and inspect it for glazing and wear this week too.   I hope the clutch is savable as those things are pricey if you can find a aftermarket replacement.

The other WH electric clutches are metal on metal and I assume so is yours. Glazing is easily removed with some emory cloth
