1989 c-414 starter removal

Just a quick question, do you have to remove the oil fill dipstick tube in order to remove the starter? 1989 c-414, kohler M 12. Thank you

Yes, and due to the tight clearance to the starter 12v. lug, I install a rubber sleeve on the fill tube to provide insulation.

The 5-cylinder in the Colorado was even worse.

 

Same stupid spot, much harder to remove the intake.
