Painting Preparation

I hope you do more painting prep than our State Guvment.

 

PENN DOT repainted the lines on my road today.

 

They skipped over a few spots.

 

                                                                Stones washed out on the road

                    

 

                                                    A bag of trash

 

                                    

 

 

                                                             And a squirrel

Wow. Thats pretty pitiful. I'd say its an act of ignorance from a PENN DOT employee and maybe not the state. Let's hope they fix it

most of that painting equipment is now computerized -- the worker just drives the truck -- paint computer obviously not a wildlfe lover

Sadly, viewed as production work... get out of the truck to move a carcass? Nope... bag of trash? Nope... wash out impact line quality? Oh well.

 

I have a picture somewhere of a paint line going in to a McDonald's... lunch break... oops... meant to turn off the sprayer... didn't... supersize me.

Here they paint the lines then two weeks later they tar and chip over the the lines.

Also, a big difference out your way the roads are much better, even the side roads are nice. You can tell it is closer ti HQ

A $50 leaf blower zip tied to the front bumper of these $300,000 paint rigs could blow off the trash and road kills.      Maybe add a remote switch for the driver.

Ed, that would have to go out for bid and you know the DOT specifications would drive the price up to several thousand dollars  .      Next the public employees' union would protest having additional duties put on the employee.         To say nothing of the danger posed by those rechargeable batteries.     without suitable training the blower could pose a significant hearing and eye hazard.

My neighbor is retired from DOT road maintenance.  One of his early jobs was one of the fellows who rode in a (as I envisioned in my mind's eye)  cage and sprayed the stripes.  The driver of the truck kind of aligned the sprayer but it was up to the spray operator who tweaked the cage to get paint in right location. As I remember he was side swiped one time by a car while in the cage.  He did not like that job.

 

The DOT guys can't paint over a squirrel.  That would be inner agency's interference in this case the Conservation department's creatures!
