Clutch engage sometime and when it does it stops in a few seconds

I try engage my mower beck and the clutch sometimes engage and sometimes not. When it engages if will go for a few seconds and then stop not sure whats the problem. Has anyone else had this problem and can help

What stops in a few seconds?  Does the engine shut off?

Looks like the belt isn't installed correctly on the mule drive, perhaps some photos close to that area might help.

Try this

Remove the pin

Drop down the rod

tighten the trunion towards the seat a few turns

Re-install and try it

The lever should hold somewhat stiff once cantilevered over

I have twisted it back as far as i can into the triangle piece to engage the clutch.  And it still stops

The belt does appear to be routed correctly.  What is up with the welding and grinding on the clutch hoop and the rod?  Note the offsets and larger diameters where the welding took place.

When we try to twist the trunion back the rob broke. We need to mow so we improvise and it worked

Something isn't right. it took a lot of force to break that hoop

Is the threaded rod bent which is distorting the threads that the trunnion turn on?

We held the pieces together to get the right angle and it did work for a little bit after that.
