L-155 No Start

Recommended Posts

This is my L-155 I bought last year in the spring. It started and ran just fine until July when I was unloading it at a show. It started and ran fine, but died and never restarted. I thought it was either the ignition or the starter. Is it this diode board? Can I delete it and add a solenoid instead?

That board has nothing to do with starting. Battery charging only so the addition of a solenoid will not fix it.

The magneto ignition is self powered and the wire going to the ignition switch simply grounds the magneto coil to shut it off.

Adding a solenoid would remove the heavy starting load on the ignition switch and a good idea to keep the expensive switch working.

Have you determined what you are missing? A gasoline engine needs air, fuel, compression, and ignition. Knowing what is missing will help with a diagnoses.

You also mentioned that you thought it may be the starter. Are you unable to turn the engine over with the starter?
