SamHit 0 #1 Posted May 7 I just got a 312-8 and wanted to mount a winch on the front. Has anyone mounted one on the front axle, in the gap between the engine and front hood, and put the rope through the hood? Was wondering if that axle was strong to support that? Also any pictures of how you were able to mount it would be appreciated. Thanks
CCW 1,500 #2 Posted May 7 (edited) @SamHit This is what I did with my 312-8. See the thread. One of the hidden features is I add some spacers to widen the space of the arms extending back to the frame. This gave enough room for the mule drive to mount. ri702bill 12,054 #3 Posted May 7 (edited) Welcome! Consider doing just what CCW did - the axle sees enough loading as is. Better to mount to the frame... or... if it is for temporary use, How about an adapter to go into a front receiver hitch? I used an old rusty Mule Drive & a HFT ATV receiver. Still allows the hood to open normally. Edited May 7 by ri702bill 1
SylvanLakeWH 31,303 #4 Posted May 7 I use mine for weights when plowing, winch for raising / lowering my snow plow blades, and a 2" hitch to move trailers around... 4
JoeM 9,871 #5 Posted May 8 I made up this crazy contraption using an old mule drive plate. I could use it on the front or back. 1
David414 320 #6 Posted 4 hours ago Used same size angle iron as tractor frame. Mounts using 3, grade 8 bolts per side, bolts to tractor frame. Has removable receiver plate bolted to the angle iron with 4 bolts that allows plate removal for unobstructed hood opening. I later drilled the mounting plate and bolted winch directly to plate to allow usage of both receiver hitch and winch at same time. The winch when mounted in the arm, can be used in the rear receiver as well. The extended frame works as is with snow blade and when using the bervac 44" 2 stage snow thrower, the right-side frame rail must be removed.
