They do not need to be welded to the cross bar but will need the two bolts each and the heavy bracket for the other side of your axle. The arm that swings under the snow plow's 3/4" rear cross bar is pictured. I have no dimensions to give you but the frame of the snow plow will go between the angle irons. For a 312-8 you would want the angle iron pieces mounted with the ears outward rather than inward, this is the only good picture I have and it is for the older short frame tractors.
