WHX?? 56,196 #8 Posted 5 hours ago Nope not a blade ... Big Unit gets the prize. Although hitting a stump with a blade can cause it. It wasn't hitting a stump that did it ... It wasn't the mouse house ... it wasn't the Squonkies orange death although it was oil related. So after finding the not uncommon Briggs aluminum key way sheared I got as excited as a groom on wedding night. The motor does somewhat turn over with a pipe wrench on the stub. If that's all it is the mouse house will buff out and maybe I can save this motor right? Maybe go thru it for a a spare engine? Just for practice? Hiding behind the starter ... the reason for the abrupt engine stop. These motors are actually not too bad if oil is checked. 2 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ri702bill 11,929 #11 Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Ah, the high milage accessory crankcase vent.... (As Marvin the Martian said... "And there was a big Kaboom!!") That engine is wasteacated. Maybe that Oh-so-efficient Fram spin on oil filter can be cleaned of the chunks and reused??? So it is my guesstimation that the crank came to a sudden stop at speed and the flywheel above said "I'm not done yet" and kept going??
