Yitzchok 1 #1 Posted Monday at 11:34 PM Hi, I have a Wheel horse 312-8 and if i press the clutch too fast or i am on bumpy ground sometimes the belt flips into the space next to it and then the clutch does nothing when i push it and the tractor starts lurching, am i missing a guard there? 953 nut 65,325 #3 Posted yesterday at 12:00 AM There is a belt guide attached to the right foot rest, is it in place?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,166 #4 Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Adjust these guides so they just clear the belt when the belt is tight. They will force a good condition belt to behave.
Bill D 2,776 #5 Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM (edited) That looks like a 1/2" wide belt. Should be an 82" x 5/8". Also, the belt on the PTO should be on the larger pulley closer to the engine. Edited yesterday at 02:06 AM by Bill D 2

The top of a new belt should ride just above the OD of the pulley.....
peter lena 9,851 #7 Posted 19 hours ago @Yitzchok in addition to the belt , would also ensure / verify lubrication to any / all related movement areas ? regularly see , hear linkages trying to move in rust , regular related is belt bouncing , and sudden release , causes erratic response , one of my base line , repetitive eliminations . put that in the same class as , rusted choke / throttle cables , simple / easy , maybe a spring assist ? pete

I don't know, a few years ago (before i started using it) i think the old one snapped and my older brother switched it.
