hotajax 256 #1 Posted 12 hours ago May I pick your collective brains please? What is the latest version of the part number I need for a 1984 Wheel Horse 314-8 throttle cable? Maybe it's the same as the Toro, I don't know. Thanks in advance. I saw one reference at Jack's that said the cable is now obsolete.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,129 #2 Posted 12 hours ago https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-110714/ No reason you can't replace just the cable from bulk material. Possibly a local repair shop would have some.

Achto 31,513 #4 Posted 12 hours ago I keep bulk cable & sheathing in stock. It tends to get shared between @WHX??, my friend Joel & me. Think I've had the same 2 rolls for 4yrs now and there is still a few tractors worth left. 1
hotajax 256 #5 Posted 12 hours ago Can you just bend that cable with a needle nose pliers after you fish it through the sheathing?

Here are some other alternatives that make the job a little easier. A DIY Z bend pliers. A dedicated Z bend pliers. https://www.amazon.com/HRGDFBP-Spring-Pliers-Bending-Aircraft/dp/B0FRF4GF6V/ref=sr_1_7 Edited 11 hours ago by Achto 2

They are marketed for the radio controlled plane hobby but same difference. https://www.amazon.com/Z-Bend-Pliers-Useful-Airplane-Building/dp/B0D1R2VGVS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2FJK1P4WW8NN9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fRVcLT52hctO4LWC1h_beQjyfTo4QUFZBZHHVv5W9pOasAcjZpVW2t6x5DC6KAluaTkKmYv29KPPqH2I9OjHWPkNTitgAqk3aFzCBXRR-kfgliMzqT1gEgjXuEtmSuUc-CoSL6lzDiyZISm1pY4weCwvbaNmj_u-o3lyNMouuMFZtHTsQ_G9t3GI4RNL4IfEEWctFh2Dics9RZ5jdRT7A29IN3RBjo_ILGT3uL73K0YatjZI4ryHDUJN8cfUFAT9w-rxqwgDtGnJz-kSNm6ccE9I1shECWDw3AImtNPS5eM.RZz0dpHfCO49DVIQtGy2U1Bn6uj9iShz3oPVHmtQBYk&dib_tag=se&keywords=z+bend+pliers&qid=1776729896&sprefix=z+bend%2Caps%2C415&sr=8-1 They have gotten pretty pricey in the jungle but look around if you want one I think I only paid 15 for mine. The stuff that Dan has got has a nylon inner that is just as slick as cat crap on linoleum. Make it to any length you need. Problem is yes it comes in huge rolls but make some friends or list lengths in classifies. I have part numbers somewhere in here if your truly interested. Think it's a Stens offering.

I think I heard this guy say he made the pliers himself. So all I need is a length of cable ( the "innards" that go inside the sheath? Thanks for this.
ri702bill 11,748 #10 Posted 1 hour ago If you go that route... pay attention to the direction of the second end bends relative to the opposite end. For the smoothest action in use, you want the two ends to be within 10 degrees or so of the intended placement. If you end up 180 off, it puts a constant bind in the cable..... Racinbob 12,888 #11 Posted 1 hour ago Buying cable in bulk is a better idea but for no more often than I do it I just pick up a cheap throttle and cannibalize. I discovered I needed one for my Dino project so I got this at Rural King a couple days ago. I'll fit it to the original control and cut it to length as needed. The Z bend tool I have gets the job done OK. 1
