She was a good Indycar driver, but left a lot to be desired as a NASCAR driver. Way too whiny & pouty. Indy cars are weighed with the driver onboard - all fairly equal.

NASCAR cars are not - 3800 pounds without the driver. There were many protests claiming that having 100 lb Danica drive was an unfair advantage compared to the good ol' boys that weighed twice as much!! She need more advantage than that!!

Her sponsor, GoDaddy, wanted to sponsor a NASCAR Cup driver.  After two years without a single win in the Nationwide Series they moved her up to the Cup Series where she got a lot of media coverage for her sponsor. She won the Pole for her first Daytona 500, of course this was great publicity for NASCAR and they held the stop watch that determined the polo winner.   :hide:      Just sayin'.  Unconfirmed information was that her sponsorship was worth more the Stuart-Hass Racing than any of their other drivers who were actually winning races and championships.

In the long run NASCAR, NFL, and all other professional sports are actually entertainment and marketing ventures, the sporting aspect is what gets us through the gate or turning on the TV.

NASCAR instituted a rule years back prohibiting slower lap cars from holding up the leaders just to get some TV time that otherwise they would not. That was a good call.

So was the 10% speed requirement for a damaged car to return to the race after pitting. You have to be within 10 percent of the leaders speed in ONE lap or your day is done.

That keeps the deadwood off the playing field.

There... fixed it for ya... :handgestures-thumbupright:

I don't watch or in any way support any sports on any media. Completely a marketing and gambling racket.

My kids growing up, my nieces and nephews - absolutely. All day long. Until they get paid for it - college "scholarships", NIL deals etc...
