bo dawg 599 #1 Posted April 12 What is the difference with these 2 spindle housings. I understand bearing sits lower in the one on the left and it gets a spacer on top of bearing with the shorter pipe in side. And the one on right gets a longer pipe inside due to bearing sits higher. So is the one on left just for 3/4” spindle and one on the right gets the 5/8” spindle. Or……..
JoeM 9,773 #2 Posted April 12 (edited) Yes, one on left is metric 17mm (6203 bearing 17mmx40mmx12mm), an the other is imperial bore 3/4" (6203-12 3/4"x40(mm)x12(mm) using a seal and inner spacer. I have used the smaller metric shaft in the deep bearing housing by using an old bearing race as a spacer under the bearing. I knock the guts out of and old bearing and left over bearing race is the right thickness. This eliminates the seal and seal carrier spacer. peter lena 9,854 #3 Posted April 12 @bo dawg personally only use lucas x tra hd green chassis grease in any related bearing, over kill ? nope , that 550 degree flash point , really stands up to abuse , also polyurea rating ensures lube retention , all my decks and related mule drive bearings have this in them , the always easy engage ment , spin up is effortless , no belt squeal at all , using this on my units for years , no noise or failures . pete
