How Do You Get Under Your Deck to Change Blades?

Recommended Posts

Is an engine hoist the only way?  Punt and take the deck off?  Any time saving Ideas?  Thanks.

I slide mine in and out from the side.

Of course you have not told us which tractor or deck you are dealing with, so that might not work for you.

I use this every time I mow and for many other uses. Love it.

That is a very nice seat.  It doesn't look like anything ever made by Wheel Horse.  Where did you get it?

I too prefer to drop the deck and slide it out the right side. The 36" geardrive on the 854 is not so bad, the 36" on the C81 is a bit more work - and those blade nuts are tougher to remove and tighten.

Tractor Supply. It had armrests and a slider adjustment on it. The armrests drove me nuts and I had no need for the slider. I took both off.

Bob, that looks like it would negatively impact steering performance, and probably make the cut height very high.

I use one of those devices for chopping through multi floral rose.

Multiple passes, lowering a notch each pass. :)

48" decks are getting too heavy to pull out and clean on a regular basis anymore.  I use the lift thing sometimes but lying down to clean it is also getting harder.  So the deck rusts out in the next 10 years probably will not be a concern for me anynore
