The C141 - 8-speed with the tranny selected to Low 2 or Low 1, Throttle set at about 3/4 position, Ear buds in, Beverage in hand & away we go. Usually about a 3 drink job. 4 2

Ed Kennell 46,072 #5 Posted April 3 I roll mine right after the frost leaves and we have some heavy rain. This is always before the first mowing. 1
JimSraj 573 #6 Posted April 3 I’ve always been confused about this. Aeration is done to open up the compacted soil and to help seed from over seeding germinate. doesnt rolling compact the soil defeating the purpose of aeration?
8ntruck 8,861 #7 Posted April 3 More seat time. Roll it to smooth it out, then aerate it.

It all depends on the soil, in many cases you can do more harm than good when rolling.

I aerate and then roll the plugs that came up from the aeration. Aerator really messes up the mole runs and the roller leaves them where the mower won't hit them. My_horse 118 #11 Posted April 3 I roll before mowing the first time if I see a lot of mole tunnels. Not any this year. So I’m just going to aerate this year, then fertilize. gotta get the stones out of it first. Did a lot more plowing this year so at least they’re not thrown as far. powerbrooms rule.

I treated for them last year and it seems to have worked. No mole tunnels or spots where skunks dig for them.
Ed Kennell 46,072 #14 Posted April 4 I fed my moles a good dose of Wheel Horse carbon monoxide over 10 years ago. Haven't seen a mole since. 3
