Paint it orange?

Hi all, I am working on the 856 doing some upgrades, didn't plan painting. The whole thing is orange, it looks factory just really faded and PO painted the hood and fenders silver should i try to match orange color or paint her red .

My favorite color is orange but I can not make one brand the color of another. 

 

That's why my Cinnamon Horse is reddish brown or brownish red and my Patriot Horse was red white and blue.

Her name is Christine, she bucket me off put me in the hospital for a week. Then the misses did a wheelie though the garden, mowed two rows of green beans down. But she deserves a little TLC, Christine was RED.

The orange could be pretty cool. Id go with a whole new gloss orange job though

I've been struggling with this myself...  But we already use IH red.

Aww I'm just picking with @ebinmaine.

 

...But have been looking for the right shade of orange for a tractor for years. One of these days.

Is it me, or did someone try to make it look like a Ford 9N?? Looks to be an excellent solid tractor.

GT if you are not restoring this tractor. Two period Perfect I would just do some light sanding or not it just painted regal red. And being done with it and then maybe throw some decals on it from Terry. It’s yours to do whatever you want.

Didn't plan on painting, it is still to cold for painting here. Don't like shiny, 

I like the patina look but the sliver has got to go. 

I rebuilt the eng and painted 2018. The cam just broke and i went through it again but only touch up paint on eng.

It still looks good but the red needs another 60 years to fade. 

Well I'm going to do the  repairs and upgrades. The hood and fenders will have to wait for better weather. 

Christine will get a new coat of Regal Red, or maybe IH orange ! I do have some orange paint leftover from the york rake.

The orange is quite similar to faded red, I've been told Wheel Horse changed paint suppliers over the years and some faded more than others.

From 1958 to 1962 Ford tractors had a orangey-red color that may match.

As Wheel Horses are typically some shade of red I’d paint it red. I went with IH Red implement paint as it seems tougher than standard spray or spray gun paint. And matching it later is easier as it’s a standardized mixture. The consensus seems to be as long as it’s red ish it’s fine. However, since it’s your tractor, paint it any color you want.

I used Ace Hardware IH Red a couple of years ago.  I noticed that the cans changed a bit while I was in the middle of that project and the color was a night and day difference.  All IH Red is not created equal, even within a brand.

My thought on orange is this. Orange is for Oranges and Kobotas. 'Nuff said.
